Constructed of iron for Messrs. W.P. Sinclair & Co, Liverpool, who were prominent in the jute trade. She was a fast ship.and is credited with making 1500 miles in five days in a passage out to Calcutta in the S.E. Trades in 1888.  She is also credited with a record run from Melbourne to Callao, Chile, in 28 days after she was sold in 1904 to Simpson Bros.

She was sold in 1910 to Norwegian owners who sent her to the ship breakers.
