[GEELONG STAR]

The Geelong Star was the last of the "D"-boats built for Lamport & Holt Line. They were revolutionary in design for the time, with the funnel being incorporated in the superstructure and housed a small part of the accommodation.  
 
Launched  as Defoe for Lamport & Holt Line Ltd., Liverpool.
 
Transferred in 1954 to Blue Star Line and renamed Geelong Star for the North Pacific coast of North America route, refrigeration plant installed by the Harland and Wolff.
 
Transferred back to Lamport & Holt Line Ltd. in 1958 and reverted to Defoe.
 
Sold in February 1966 to  Argolis Shipping Co., Greece and renamed Argolis Star.
 
Sold in 1969 to China National Machinery Import & Export Corp. and arrived at Shanghai 29 October 1969 to be broken up.
