 Lord Londonderry

On June 24th, 1909, the British cargo ship Lord Londonderry, on voyage from Huelva to Savannah with 3.336 tons of washed iron pyrites (sulphur ore), caught fire by a spontaneous combustion of the coal in the lower cross bunker.

Lord Londonderry turned back to Lisboa, but had to be abandoned the next day, 30 miles (Lloyds), 70 miles  off Sines, Portugal. The crew safely landed on the coast Portugal in two boats.
