 Naronic

Built in 1892, sister ship to the Bovic she was originally used as a refrigerated cargo vessel, but later converted to passenger carrying.

She left Lliverpool for new york in 1893 with 74 passengers onboard and was never seen again. Four weeks later a vessel, the 'Coventry' spotted one of her up-turned lifeboats about 500 miles off the coast of Nova Scotia, another life boat was seen the next day. Bottles with messages in them began to wash-up on the coast between New York and Virginia, some saying that Naronic had hit an iceberg. The court of inquiry did not except that these messages were genuine. But by a strange quirk the location that Naronic's up-turned life boat was seen in was only 90 miles from were 'titanic' 19 years later was to meet her end - in collision with an iceberg. the Naronic has not been found.

It may be a mystery forever.
