One funnel, two masts, twin screw, speed 15 knots, accommodation for 70-1st, 104-2nd and 456-3rd class passengers she made her  maiden Voyage to Valparaiso  on April 11 1895.
 
1899 - 1904 she became the  Boer War Transport No. 18. Brought home Lord Kitchener, Sir John French and Sir Ian Hamilton from Cape Town at the end of the war.
 
August 1906, was berthed at Valparaiso during an earthquake and was used as a refugee accommodation ship.
 
June 25th June 1918  she was torpedoed and sunk  by UB.73 while on voyage from Liverpool to Philadelphia and 21 miles southwest of Skerryvore, with the loss of six lives.
