Owned at the time of her loss by T. & J. Brocklebank, Ltd., Liverpool. On August 7th, 1917, Iran, on a voyage from Calcutta to London & Tees with  general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine U-155 (Karl Meusel), 200 miles ESE from Santa Maria Island, Azores.
 
There were no casualties.
