[Cargo Liners: An Illustrated History-Ambrose Greenway]

The Pardo and her sister Potaro were refridgerated insulated steamers completed in 1904 for the Royal Mail Steam packet Company’s South American meat trade. They were three-island, two-deck ships with the somewhat unusual arrangement of long forecastle and bridge deck. A single three-cylinder triple expansion engine gave a speed of 12 knots.

She was demolished in Genoa in 1934: after completing thirty useful if unremarkable service.
