She was built for the Spanish fruit trade and has four sisters, Pelayo, Ponzano, Pinto and Palacio.
 
Designed for the Britain to Spain service as a fruit carrier but also had space for 5 passengers.
 
MacAndrews sold her to M A Bakhashab, Jeddah in 1958 when she was renamed Obqaiq. The owner renamed her again in 1961 as Star of Mecca.
 
On 7th July 1962 she ran aground near Jeddah and became a total loss.
