Accommodation for 166-1st and 1,000-3rd class passengers.  On 11th April 1872 she left Liverpool on her maiden voyage to Queenstown (Cobh) and New York and in May 1872 made a record passage from Queenstown to Sandy Hook of 7 days 23 hrs 17 mins at an average speed of 14.53 knots.
 
In 1874 she collided with the Cunards Line  Parthia  coming out of New York, minimal damage to both vessels.
 
In 1875 she ran down the United States vessel Columbus and sank her. In the same year she rammed and sank the Harvest Queen in St.George's channel.
 
Refitted in 1884 to carry additional 2nd class passengers, she started her last Liverpool - Queenstown - New York voyage on 17th November1897 and was scrapped at Preston in 1899.
