Two boilers fed steam to two sets of triple expansion engines. There was a long trunk deck  on which the bridge-house was constructed.
 
16 February 1942 she was sunk by submarine U-502 torpedo 25 miles south-west of Punta Macolla, Gulf of Maracaibo while on voyage from Lake Maracaibo to Aruba.
