 Lochness

The Lochness had been designed for the “Stornoway Mail” run.

In June 1949, Lochness was relegated to spare/relief mail steamer in which role she continued until rendered finally redundant in 1955 by the commissioning of the Claymore. She was sold in July that year to an Italian company who re-named her Valmarina. She was in turn sold on to a Greek company in 1958 and, as Myrtidiotissa, she remained in service on the Aegean throughout the 1960’s until being finally scrapped in 1974.
