The Portland Star was built as the Delius, one of the "D"-boats built for Lamport & Holt Line. They were revolutionary in design for the time, with the funnel being incorporated in the superstructure and housed a small part of the accommodation.
 
Bombed on the  21 November 1943 and damaged by German aircraft south west of Ireland.
 
She was renamed in 1954 as Portland Star.
 
Transferred in 1955 to Blue Star Line Ltd.
 
Sold in 1961 to  Compagnie Metallurgique et Minière, France and renamed Kettara VII. Registered under the Panamanian flag.
 
Sold in 1962 to Sangyo Shinko K.K., Japan for demolition and arrived at Tokyo 24/ February1962 for discharge.
Demolition commenced 30 April 1962 at Izumi-Ohtsu
