Demerara, a British steamship built by Harland and Wolff at Belfast, Ireland was launched on December 21, 1911. She was owned by the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, London, England was 500 feet long, of 11,484 tons gross with a speed of 13.5 knots. She was a refrigerated meat carrier with accommodation for 933 passengers. She was equipped with wireless and refrigerated cargo spaces.
 
1st July1917 torpedoed off La Rochelle but reached port and repaired.
 
1933 scrapped in Japan.
