Retiring from the shipyard after 46 years service was quite a sad event for Welder Ernest Lee, but a big compensation, he told H&W News on the day he left, would be the extra time gained to spend with his grandchildren. "They're my greatest interest at the moment!" he said. Ernest, who helped build ships such as the "Eagle" and the "Bulwark", was based in recent years in the Web and Transverse Shop, and it was there that his friends gathered on October 28th to see Manager Aifie McDermott present him with a set of Tyrone crystal glasses on their behalf. Mr. McDermott thanked Ernest for loyal service and wished him a long and enjoyable retirement.
