	Francis was born in Belfast in 1879. His parents were Hugh and Mary Hanna from Queenstown, Ireland. According to the 1911 census Francis was married to Elizabeth Hanna and they had 2 children, namely James and Thomas and they lived at 65 Dundela Street. Sometime later they had moved to 67 Church Street East, Newtownards Road. Belfast. His widow Elizabeth received a War Gratuity of £3.
