William was born on 27 September 1889 in Belfast of parents William James and Maria Keith. The family lived at 1 Pottinger Street, Belfast.
William enlisted on 12 September 1914 and he embarked for France on 6 October 1915. He died on 15 March 1918. His death is not recorded by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as his death was not caused by his military service.
William’s family received a War Gratuity of £14.
