When William Charles Danes was born in June 1892 in Southampton, Hampshire, his father, Charles, was 26 and his mother, Ada, was 26. He married Lillian Maud Gannaway in October 1914 in his hometown. They had two children during their marriage. He died as a young father on 28 March 1918 in France at the age of 25, and was buried in Douchy, Nord, France.
